Other architectural features: Basement under new addition with two
entrances contains gas furnace, cupboards, and gas range. Upstairs
teacherage also has two entrances, inside and outside.
Anything Left Inside: Completely furnished for school use.
Current Condition and Use: The building was moved and remodeled in 1952
by Robert Hutchison Contractors and again remodeled and enlarged in 1975
by Glover Construction. It is in good condition.
The school building has been used as a community building for all
community projects such as Church, Elections, Parties, School Programs,
Weddings, Funeral Luncheons, and Picnics.

Electricity was installed in 1957 and telephone in 1961.

Five windows with two panes, three entrances, one classroom
Bell Tower: Large bell was installed on the building in 1925
Type of Roof: Asphalt shingles; original shingles were wood
In 2006 part of the shingles were replaced with metal.
Orton School had five windows with two panes, three entrances, one
classroom with electricity installed in 1957, and telephone in 1961.
Outhouses: There were originally two outside toilets and a barn. At present,
there is no outside toilet but there are two modern inside bathrooms.
Playground Equipment: Swings, giant stride, baseball and basketball

Flagpole: Steel flagpole approximately 20’ tall is located on ground at
southeast corner of schoolhouse.
